My telephone is about 5 years old or so and as such, the battery runs out too quickly for my liking.
The phone itself is great and I like the camera so it'd be a shame to let it go to waste.
Rather than getting a new phone I decided to see if I could replace the battery myself so I ordered all the things I needed and sought out a guide to help me.

Here's all the tools and parts I got laid out.
I think all up it cost me about $200 for everything and now I have a nice set of tools for this sort of thing if I ever need them.

First things first I had to separate the back cover from the rest of the phone.
This is a little heat pad that you stick in the microwave for 30 seconds and then place on your telephone to heat up the glue that holds it together.
After I had loosened up each side I slid these little blue guitar picks in to ensure that the glue didn't reseal the cover back on to the side that had just been warmed up.

I had to do these for each side of the telephone, sliding the picks up and down the edges to release the glue, a long and tedious process.
After I had done it on each side the back cover came off. At this point I was just hoping I hadn't broken anything.

I began to take out the pieces, saving all the little screws on a handy magnetic pad that came with my toolkit.
there were a lot of wires here and this part was really nerve wracking as I didn't want to ruin any of the connectors.
I kept taking piece after piece out until I had finally got the old battery out.

Next up I had to clean the area with isopropyl alcohol before putting the new battery in place.
Once it was in I started to connect the wires back in and screw the pieces back together until it was good as new.
Then all that was left was to put some new adhesive on the edges to seal it up and place the back cover on.
It worked! the new battery is great and everything is working just as before.
I'm a little bit proud of myself for this one and I want to thank ifixit for the tools and the guide on replacing the battery.
I'd also like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this post. I hope you get inspired to do your own electronics repair.
Have a lovely day or night or whatever you like.
