You get to see all kinds of cool things when you travel, I don't mean the stock-standard pictures of famous landmarks. Things you haven't seen before, online, in books, or on television are much nicer in my opinion.
Here's a great picture of the sorts of things you see when travelling. Sri Lankan tuktuk drivers like to decorate their vehicles with all sorts of interesting sayings or pictures.
You get to see all sorts of interesting things when you travel. Our plane landed in Helsinki, Finland for a layover and it was so cold that they had to deice the aeroplane wings before we took off. They drove the plane into a section of the airport, came to a stop, and then 4 of these trucks with cranes on the top drove over to us and then started spraying our plane.
I am not sure what they sprayed our plane with but we took off just fine afterwards, so I'd say they did a great job of deicing the plane!
You get to see a lot of strange plants as well.
This was in some boutique clothing store in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This plant didn't seem native to NL, and it caught my eye. I heard there are apps for identifying plants you can get for your telephone, but that takes some of the fun out of it, in my opinion.
